And her face lacked the polished touches that a woman has when she wears make-up. In short, Bonnie thought of herself as plain because she felt plain. She never walked with an air of confedence because she didn't have any confidence in herself. At the age of seven she had injured her right leg. After the injury she had attended school with a limp for many years. Most of her classmates were always making fun of her and it made it easy for an inferior feeling to start developing inside her. Betty was her only friend, and she always fought Bonnie's battles for her. And when Bonnie cried, Betty was there to console her.
Ben was ten years ole when Bonnie was born and the age cap alone made it impossible for him to see how introverted and shy she was growing up. By the time she was in the first grade, he was in high school. And by the time she was in high school, he had already graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Archeology. A week later he had already gone on his first trip around the world. The day before she graduated from college she was anticipating his arrival because he had promised to take her on a trip around the world. But instead, she had received a telegram.
Dear Miss Bradley, I am regretfully sending you this telegram to inform you that flight 222 from London, England to New York City crashed into the ocean and the bodies of all of the passengers were lost to the sea. Benjamin Bradley was one of those passengers. If we receive any further pertinent information we will notify you immediately. My Sincerest condolences, Taft Hartley, CEO, Hartley Airlines
The telegram had thrown her into depression for a while as she wasn't even over the loss of their parents. And the news that her brother, Ben, was now gone as well was almost too much for her. She had cried so much that her face had gotten sore. And Betty had taken a leave of absence from her job to take care of her until she was better. After she managed to pull herself together she had scheduled a memorial for her brother. And she had written an obituary and taken them both to the newspaper along with his picture so everyone could see how handsome he had been. All of Ben's old school buddies had came to his memorial to say goodbye. And Betty came to support his sister.
A week later, Mr. John Harding from Harding and Harding, Attorneys at Law had arrived to read her Ben's will. Then he had handed her a sealed letter from her brother. Ben had saved ten-million-dollars and now it was all hers. Right then the money didn't mean very much to her but, she acknowledge the fact that she didn't have to spend time looking for a job because now she could afford to take all of the time that she wanted to mourn the loss of her brother.
She might have even kept right on grieving for several years if not for the uncanny dream that she had early one morning. In the dream, she and her brother were floating on a big-white-billowy cloud and he was saying, "Now Bonnie, I want you to stop grieving. Read my letter and you will know why I want you to take the trip. Call Exotic Journeys Travel Agency." When she woke up it had seemed like she was still in a dream and the dream was remarkably clear. As that moment she had risen to take his letter out of her dresser drawer. She had cried while reading the letter. However, her tears had a profound effect as they washed away her grief and replaced them with a strong desire to live her life to the fullest for her brother, Ben.
